Referral to a kidney cancer specialist

Your GP should refer you to a specialist if you have symptoms that could be due to kidney cancer. They follow guidelines and use their experience to decide if you need an urgent referral.

Screening for kidney cancer

There is no national screening programme for kidney cancer in the UK. People who are at increased risk of kidney cancer may be able to have regular scans.

Tests for kidney cancer

If you have symptoms of kidney cancer, you usually have a number of tests. These tests help your doctor find out if it is cancer and decide what treatment you need.
