Treatment For Eye Cancer
Radiotherapy is a common treatment for eye cancer. It uses high energy x-rays to destroy cancer cells. You may have internal radiotherapy (brachytherapy) or external radiotherapy.
The radiotherapy team plan your radiotherapy before you start treatment. This means working out the dose of radiotherapy you need and exactly where you need it.
Internal radiotherapy is also called brachytherapy. A small disc called a plaque is placed on the eye to treat some eye cancers.
External radiotherapy means having radiation from a machine outside the eye. It only treats the area of the body the radiation is directed at.
Radiotherapy for eye cancer has some side effects. These depend on which part of your eye has been treated.
