Eye Cancer
You usually start by seeing your GP or an optometrist if you have symptoms that could be due to eye cancer. They will ask you about your general health and may also examine you.
They will then decide whether to do tests or refer you to a specialist.
You should see your doctor or optometrist if you notice a change that isn't normal for you. Or if you have any of the possible signs and symptoms of cancer.
Your GP should arrange for you to see a specialist if you have symptoms that could be due to eye cancer.
There is no national screening programme in the UK for eye cancer.
You usually have a number of tests to diagnose eye cancer. The tests you might have include an eye examination and a test to look at the blood vessels in your eye (fluorescein angiogram).
Your doctor might examine your eye cancer to test for abnormalities of the chromosomes in the cancer cells. This is called cytogenetic testing.
