Infection during or after cancer treatment

Having cancer or treatment for cancer can weaken your immune system. This makes it more likely that you will pick up an infection and develop a fever.

Symptoms of infection

Fever can be one of the first symptoms of an infection somewhere in your body. Infections can sometimes be life threatening. Contact your healthcare team immediately if you think you might have an infection.

Types of infections

Cancer and cancer treatments can make it more likely for you to get an infection. There are many different types of infections.
