Treatment For Cervical Cancer
Radiotherapy uses high energy x-rays to kill cervical cancer cells. For early stage or locally advanced cervical cancer the main treatment is usually external radiotherapy alongside chemotherapy (chemoradiotherapy). This is usually followed by internal radiotherapy (brachytherapy).
The radiotherapy team plan your external radiotherapy before you start treatment.

Internal radiotherapy for cervical cancer means giving radiotherapy to the cancer from inside the body. It is also called brachytherapy.
Radiotherapy for cervical cancer can cause side effects. The side effects vary from person to person. You may not have all of the effects mentioned.
